This collection required some research into ingredients that have historically been used in potion-making or as natural remedies. There's a whole side of "witchcraft" that is simply the folk remedies and herbalism handed down from our ancestors

BEAUTY POTION

Chamomile, egg yolk, rose petal, evening primrose, vanilla, milk and honey are all natural ingredients that have been used in beauty potions historically (and still today

I’ve used eggs and honey in face masks and as hair conditioners myself with good results!

LOVE POTION

Cloves, lavender, star anise, sugar, pomegranate, sweet red wine, chocolate, cinnamon, hibiscus, and violet. All associated with love, romance and fertility

  • Pomegranates are believed to improve fertility. Ancient Persians believed Eve was tempted not with an apple, but a pomegranate. In Greek Mythology, pomegranates are the fruit of the underworld, and Persephone had to live there 6 months every year because she ate 6 pomegranate seeds.

HEALING POTION

Bergamot, bay leaf, garlic, willow bark, vinegar, basil, rosemary, lemon and pine have been used in protection spells and healing potions.

  • Garlic was once thought to keep away disease (and vampires) and today we know eating it is beneficial for our immune systems.

  • A hot cup of tea is well known as a remedy. Earl Grey’s signature ingredient is Bergamot

  • I've known willow bark had healing properties since my mother explained to me that Pocahontas gave John Smith willow bark at the end of the movie for pain, and that aspirin is actually made from willow bark.
